Haunted Horizons News / Re: Burra
« Last post by Alison on July 01, 2012, 02:53:27 PM »
Just an update on Burra...  We have completed the dry runs and the 16th May was a success with us now securing accommodation in a reportedly haunted cottage :)  We will put this tour out to the public in Aug/Sept when we have a fighting chance of it being a little warmer.  I think getting down to such low temperatures isn't going to be too pleasant when sitting out in the yards of Redruth Gaol!  We will let you all know when it goes ahead :)

Ghost Tours/Paranormal in the Media / Gawler Dark History Tours - Messenger
« Last post by Alison on June 30, 2012, 09:31:32 AM »
We opened our new range of tours during History Month, which are the Dark History Tours.  Although they do contain a smattering of ghostly tales... most of the tour is a journey through the darker side of human nature... murders, mysteries, suicides and quirky tales long forgotten.  The tour did not go unoticed by the messenger.  Here is the story.

Victoria / Eerie Tours - Ballarat
« Last post by Alison on June 30, 2012, 09:24:48 AM »
Although I have not had the pleasure yet of attending any of these tours, hopefully I will get to change this soon.  I have however, met on several occasions, the owner Nathaniel.  Having met him I can see why we are getting many good reports on these tours.  So if you are heading over that way why not book into one.  Let us know here how you found them :)

Eerie Tours run several different tours - Ballarat Ghost Tours, Ballarat Old Cemetry Tours and a Ghost and Carriage Tour.  For more information go to the link here:

Because of the numerous happenings we have been having in the Wolseley Church during tours, we now run a video camera at all times when we are in there.  March 16 2012 proved to be an interesting night for many of us.  Most of how it happened was caught on camera.  We apologise for the lack of quality, but the night started with all batteries draining at once... camera, IR floodlight, torch and voice recorder.  We managed to get another battery on the camera but the IR floodlight was useless so the footage was dark.  We have managed to increase the brightness on the software we were using though.

General Ghost Tour Discussions / Re: Residents around haunted tour sites
« Last post by Alison on June 30, 2012, 08:26:24 AM »
Hi Babette,
Sorry for the delay in answering this.  Unfortunately we have been busy on a new tour so the forum has been neglected of late and I haven't been in much.

Hopefully it isn't too late to answer your questions.

Question 1
I do believe that one of the benefits of regular tours do deter people from causing trouble.  People specifically out to vandalise and do damage to places don't generally want to be seen or caught.  Having regular official visitations to sites will reduce this although obviously won't eliminate it altogether as nobody can be on a site 24hrs a day.

Question 2
Surrounding shops and other small businesses in the area certainly do benefit from tours.  Meals, snacks, drinks and accommodation is often needed so businesses who supply these items and services certainly have noticed extra trade where we have been operating.  Even the venue owners have noticed an uplift in their own trade as people like to come back during the day to explore at their own pace, which helps keep these places and history alive for future generations.

Question 3
I can only speak from my own venues that they spend no more on the upkeep then they would if there were no tours.  The owners of the venues however, get to spend a little more on the upkeep as many of these venues cost a lot to maintain.

Question 4
Again, I can only speak from our own tours and venues.  We purposely don't use areas whereby the general public would be disrupted by our tours.  We also don't use cemeteries for ethical reasons as if you are taking people on a ghost tour in a cemetery and it becomes known for ghosts, then vandals will soon move in and destroy it.  Also, cemeteries are often close to public homes and again out of respect we do not do these.   The closest we would come to public areas would be street tours in Gawler and Adelaide and all our routes avoid people's homes as best as possible so we do not disturb locals privacy.

If you have anymore questions then don't hesitate to ask.  And again apologies for not having seen this sooner.

General Ghost Tour Discussions / Residents around haunted tour sites
« Last post by babette on June 11, 2012, 04:01:23 PM »
Hey guys I'm a school student doing an assignment on ghost tours  :)

Here's a few things I am wondering;
Do tours usually lead to better regulation of people who want to visit haunted sites (less hooligans running around making ghost noises) ?
Do surrounding shops gain business?
Do councils spend more time and money on the upkeep of these haunted sites?
Does increased night activity disturb surrounding residents?

maybe you live near a haunted site or just have something to say. If so I would love to hear your opinion even if it doesn't relate specifically to one of my questions  :D

Yes, happy to share.

I need to find a scanner so I can scan this one particular pic from the Adelaide Gaol.  Its an orb but I seriously doubt its dust etc.  Like to know what everyone else's thought on it will be.

My holy grail, however, is a decent EVP.  Still trying but nothing yet.....

Would love to do a tour one day!

Haunted Horizons News / Burra
« Last post by Alison on March 28, 2012, 07:43:17 AM »
We finally had the good news!!!   Burra is a goer.

For those that don't know, my research team, www.paranormalfieldinvestigators.com has been investigating Burra since 2009 (long before H.H. was set up).   We definitely had a few curious things happen there, so it was a natural step for us to take H.H. into the area too so you can maybe get to experience this for yourself.

We kick off with a dry run for the locals that have been supporting this move and then we are looking at the 16th May for the first public tour there.  So.... get in quick... we are already seeing a lot of interest :)

More details on costings etc will be coming soon.
