Z WARD GHOST TOURS
Z Ward for the Criminally Insane at Glenside Hospital, previously Parkside Lunatic Asylum.
Z WARD IS BACK!
Z Ward has long been a fascination for those interested in the paranormal and Ghosts, and the question asked… is it really haunted? Join us, in this unique opportunity to explore this building and make up your own mind.
Completed in 1885 and shut in 1973, this stand-alone building with its impressive and inescapable Ha-Ha wall, housed many of the States violent and criminally insane patients. No wonder it has gained a reputation for ghosts and strange goings on.
In Nov 2014, Adelaide’s Haunted Horizons Ghost Tours was asked to service the night tours at Z Ward. At the time we had no idea if it was haunted or not, as nobody had ever been in to find out. We had 69 days to uncover that mystery. We were very honest with our advertising:
Are we excited? You bet!
Can we promise a ghost? No and we are not going to even pretend we can
Is it haunted? Let’s find out!
The response was phenomenal. We took over 1200 people through during that short period of time.
Rather than just be researched by paranormal teams, we felt that you the public deserved the same opportunity to come on that journey with us. We only had until the end of January 2015 to log any activity within this building before its adaptive reuse. With this exciting journey came the opportunity to raise funds towards heritage projects for Z Ward, so enabling the preservation of its history for future generations.
Because of the mounting experiences reported by guests on our ghost hunts, we felt confident that we had enough material to commence a shorter ghost tour, especially for those not so interested in paranormal investigation work.
On the 31st Jan 2015... just as the activity appeared to be strengthening and growing, it all came to an end!
Now, 5 months later.... WE ARE BACK!
Thanks to Beach Energy and the National Trust, we have been allowed back in for a limited time to continue to monitor and log the activity there, while at the same time, raising more money for those heritage projects. And you can come, once more, on the ride with us!

Z Ward Ghost Tour Reviews
"The Z Ward tour was brilliant, Alison and Kag were friendly and great to talk to. The tour was informative, whilst not trying to sensationalise anything. Thank you for a wonderful night, I know my family will being going on another tour with you very soon." ~Sue Mitton, Adelaide
"We just went on the Z Ward tour, at Glenside, and it was absolutely amazing. Definitely had experiences with the other side, myself being touched. I was a massive sceptic, not anymore! The tour guides were lovely and welcoming and Alison knows her stuff! Lovely lady, who makes the whole tour, extra fun!" ~ Stacy Sandy, Adelaide
